Description
Our health center is seeking dependable and motivated high school and college students to join us as Summer Student Temps. This paid seasonal position provides an opportunity to support the daily operations of a busy community health center while gaining valuable workplace experience. Summer Student Temps will primarily perform administrative and clerical tasks that help our clinical and operational teams provide efficient, high-quality care to our patients. While the primary focus of the role is to support day-to-day operations, we also hope to provide each Summer Student Temp with at least one opportunity to learn about an area of the health center that aligns with their interests whenever operational needs allow.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Scan, file, and organize patient-related documents.
โ€ข Assist with faxing and processing paperwork
โ€ข Schedule and confirm patient appointments
โ€ข Prepare forms and materials for clinical and administrative staff.
โ€ข Assist with data entry and other clerical projects.
โ€ข Provide general administrative support to front desk and office staff.
โ€ข Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
โ€ข Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES: As time and operational needs permit, Summer Temps may have the opportunity to:
โ€ข Observe clinical or non-clinical departments.
โ€ข Shadow a physician, dentist, optometrist, behavioral health provider, or other member of our healthcare team.
โ€ข Learn about healthcare leadership and operations.
โ€ข Assist with community programs, including our Food Pantry or Teen Center.
โ€ข Participate in other projects that provide exposure to the many services offered by our health center.
Requirements
Education: Current high school student (age 16 or older), recent high school graduate, or college student
Qualifications:
โ€ข Dependable, organized, and eager to learn.
โ€ข Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
โ€ข Comfortable using computers and learning new software.
โ€ข Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
โ€ข Interest in healthcare, community service, or nonprofit work is a plus but not required
Certification/Licensure: N/A
Software/Hardware: Experience in Epic EMR, MS word, MS excel preferred but not required
