Company Overview: Freedom Graphic Systems is a leading printer and direct mailer with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. With a workforce of approximately 300 permanent employees and an additional 300 temporary staff, we operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where efficient human resources management is critical to our success.

Position Summary: The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions for both permanent and temporary employees, ensuring compliance with labor laws, fostering a positive work environment, and supporting the strategic goals of the organization. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage a high volume of HR activities, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, and HR policy development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding:
    • Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies for both permanent and temporary positions, collaborating closely with staffing agencies for temporary workforce needs.
    • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job posting, candidate screening, interviewing, and offer management.
    • Oversee a comprehensive onboarding program for all new hires, ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the company culture.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and grievances, providing guidance and resolution in a fair and consistent manner.
    • Conduct investigations into employee complaints, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
    • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through proactive communication and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Performance Management:
    • Administer and support the company's performance management system, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback processes.
    • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and employees on performance-related issues.
    • Develop and implement disciplinary actions when necessary, ensuring compliance with company policy and legal standards.
  • Compensation & Benefits:
    • Assist in the administration of compensation programs, including salary benchmarking and annual reviews.
    • Oversee benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks, for both permanent and eligible temporary staff.
  • HR Policy & Compliance:
    • Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with company objectives and legal requirements (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA).
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, particularly those pertaining to temporary staffing.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Training & Development:
    • Identify training needs and coordinate relevant training programs for employees and managers.
    • Support professional development initiatives to enhance employee skills and career growth.
  • Temporary Workforce Management:
    • Act as the main liaison with staffing agencies, managing contracts, service level agreements, and performance of temporary staff.
    • Monitor and manage the temporary workforce to ensure optimal staffing levels and cost efficiency.
    • Address any HR-related issues specific to temporary employees, in collaboration with staffing partners.
  • HR Reporting & Analytics:
    • Prepare HR reports and analyze data to identify trends, inform decision-making, and measure HR program effectiveness.
    • Manage HRIS (Human Resources Information System) data integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2-3 years in a management role.
  • Proven experience managing HR functions in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally within printing or direct mail.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a significant temporary workforce (e.g., through staffing agencies).
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Reporting Structure: This position will report directly to the Director of Human Resources.

Benefits: Freedom offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan.
