The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Safety has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Security Officer 1 to work at our Naples location.

Core Job Summary:


The Security Officer 1 patrols assigned property and grounds to ensure the safety of building occupants and safeguard institutional property. Additionally, the Security Officer 1 provides assistance to individuals that are on University grounds in the event of an emergency.
Core Responsibilities:

  • Notifies local police department when backup is necessary.

  • Inspects building, equipment, and access points.

  • Permits entry of allowed personnel after verifying identity.

  • Informs violators of policy and procedures and restrains trespassers.

  • Controls traffic by directing drivers.

  • Checks surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts.

  • Submits reports of surveillance activity and unusual occurrences.

  • Secures all exits, doors, and windows after end of operations.

  • Investigates people for suspicious activity or possessions.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
