Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health

Full Time - Nights

Baptist Health Richmond is currently seeking compassionate, patient-centered nursing professionals to join our Behavioral Health team. We are accepting applications from both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for this opportunity.

While this posting reflects the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) job description, qualified candidates with an active RN or LPN license are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be considered for the appropriate nursing role based on their licensure, qualifications, and experience.

The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) is a secured, therapeutic inpatient setting that provides short-term, intensive psychiatric care to patients experiencing acute mental health crises. The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, therapists, and behavioral health technicians, who collaborate to develop individualized treatment plans.

Job Description:

Behavioral health nurses are multifaceted. Nurses implement treatment plans and ensure patient care. They show a broad range of nursing skills, as well as practical knowledge of communication, emotional intelligence, and a healthy dose of compassion.

Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. This individual honors patient's mind, body, and spirit by respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of everyone. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. The Registered Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.

  • Assessment and identification of patient needs and implementation of appropriate interventions considering the needs of patient populations per department scope of service.
  • Delegation of nursing care activities and provisions of supervision; establishes and maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care; assures that nursing care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems; and performs technical aspects of care competently.
  • Has access to medication storage areas as required for job tasks. Follows Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.

Requirements:

  • Current RN licensure or temporary Kentucky work permit
  • Associate Degree in Nursing with a Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Completion and maintenance of BLS.
  • Successful completion of all competencies as identified on the departmental nurse competency grid.
