Temporary Revit Mep Modeler information

What are some common challenges faced by temporary Revit MEP modelers when joining new project teams?

Temporary Revit MEP Modelers often face challenges such as quickly adapting to different company standards, workflows, and project-specific requirements. Since the role is project-based, modelers must efficiently learn the team's preferred Revit families, templates, and coordination practices. Additionally, effective communication with architects, engineers, and other modelers is crucial to ensure that the models are accurate and integrated smoothly. Flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to rapidly troubleshoot technical issues are key to succeeding in this fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What is the difference between Temporary Revit Mep Modeler vs Mechanical Drafter?

Job description

VDC Modeler / Coordinator - Mechanical Construction | Relocation Assistance Available | $75,000-$90,000
Transform mechanical construction projects from design concepts into build-ready solutions by creating detailed 3D models that help teams coordinate, fabricate, and install complex mechanical systems with accuracy. This opportunity allows you to work with a stable mechanical contractor with over 70 years of industry success while playing a key role in improving project efficiency, reducing field conflicts, and supporting successful project delivery.
What You'll Do
Support the successful execution of commercial, industrial, and institutional mechanical construction projects through Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) coordination.
Responsibilities include:
  • Create detailed mechanical and plumbing models in Revit up to LOD 400, including insulation, fittings, and hanger systems.
  • Develop accurate spool drawings and fabrication-ready deliverables that support field installation.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with other trades using Navisworks Manage to identify and resolve design conflicts before construction begins.
  • Participate in weekly coordination meetings with general contractors, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Review construction documents, specifications, submittals, and design requirements to ensure model accuracy.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field foremen, and installation teams to verify constructability and improve installation processes.
  • Maintain organized and accurate models that meet internal VDC standards and project requirements.
  • Track modeling progress, communicate coordination updates, and report clash detection status to the VDC Manager.
  • Support field layout workflows through point file creation and digital construction processes.
  • Assist project teams by providing technical solutions throughout the construction lifecycle.
What You Bring
  • 2+ years of mechanical or plumbing modeling experience using Revit.
  • Experience creating mechanical fabrication models, spool drawings, and hanger layouts.
  • Proficiency with Revit MEP and familiarity with tools such as SysQue, eVolveMEP, or Fabrication Parts.
  • Experience using Navisworks Manage for clash detection and coordination.
  • Understanding of MEP systems and mechanical construction processes.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with project teams and field personnel.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360 preferred.
  • Experience supporting mechanical or plumbing trades preferred.
  • Exposure to Virginia or Mid-Atlantic construction projects is a plus.
