Summary:
Seeking a creative and driven professional who wants to make a positive impact by joining our team in the position of Sales/Design Engineer.
We are seeking a civil, mechanical, or electrical engineer to join our team. We are looking for a creative, intelligent, and driven professional who wants to make a positive impact and help grow our product line. This individual will play a key role in facilitating new product development as well as supporting the sales team and assisting customers with technical inquiries related to our manufactured products. Individual will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, reading blueprints, and providing technical solutions to meet their needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
* Strong critical thinking skills: analysis, interpretation, problem solving, creative thinking.
* Perform engineering analysis, including structural calculations for company products, in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
* Entrepreneurial with strong project management skills. Must be comfortable being consultative.
* Support Sales Staff in performing preliminary project analysis, estimating material take-offs, and responding to technical questions.
* Create layout mockups and drawings for project proposals as requested.
* Have a command of roofing best practices.
* Good understanding of solar mounting technology to help in the further development of mounting products, including the product fastening system.
* Coordinate all product testing, both in-house as well as at designated testing facilities (UL, FM, Thielsch, PRI, Intertek, etc.) Comfortable taking ownership and seeing projects to completion.
* Hands on building: test fixtures, simulated metal roofs, setting up testing machine, performing the testing and recording results.
* Participate in planning new products for the market. Propose, design and validate new manufacturing processes.
* Owner"s engineering design review and input to new product ideas.
* Draft technical articles, white papers as needed for trade journals. Solar market research, including market analysis, solar industry trends, PV technologies trends, opportunities, and customer pain points.
* Participate in product campaign at trade shows and conferences to promote all division products.
* Engage downstream customers with sales training, webinars, workshops, etc. on both Solar and Snow Retention products.
* Create and/or maintain requested quality documentation and installation instructions. Ensure timely resolution of customer failures, corrective actions and preventive actions.
* Collect voice of the customer, perform field study, and document market requirements.
* Represent company product brand by participating in industry organizations at various levels.
* Work with Marketing to coordinate details of trade show booths and advertising.
Qualifications:
* Understanding of roofing best practices, construction, mechanical design. PV mounting technology with knowledge of the overall Solar industry. Experience designing residential PV solar systems a plus.
* Excellent organizational skills to manage time, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple deadlines.
* Adept in engineering problem-solving and solutioning.
* Hands on building roof mockups and experience using machinery.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Written and verbal. Comfortable talking on the phone and being consultative.
* Must be self-directed and resourceful, detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
* Initiative taking and can-do attitude. Able to work in the gray area.

Desired Certifications and Experience
* Licenses or certifications: NABCEP, IEC, OSHA, PV, PGPV
* Relevant Degrees: Bachelor"s in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Science, Mechanical Engineering, Design, Construction Management, Architecture, Technical Education. Understanding of construction, mechanical design, electrical design
* Commanding proficiency in SolidWorks, proficient in using Microsoft Office.
* Science or engineering degree with 3 -5 years working experience in Solar or other related industry.
