Job description

Research Data Scientist (Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; West Hollywood, CA): Participate in biomedical research projects using programming, data mining, statistics, machine learning, and visualization techniques to lead the development, evaluation, and application of algorithms, methods, and software for data analysis. Lead the development, evaluation, and application of computational and statistical methods including artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms and software for the analysis of biomedical data. Lead with the presentation and communication of scientific results through laboratory meetings, scientific conferences, and peer-reviewed publications. Create database-to-deployment pipelines for models using the necessary programming languages (primarily R, Python, SQL, neo4j). Create sustainable data science infrastructure and adheres to data analysis/machine learning best practices. Perform data cleaning, quality control, exploratory data analysis to gauge the need for or appropriateness of advanced analytical methods. Lead discussions with senior and lead research data scientists and principal investigators to identify areas where data science can best be applied to answer biomedical research questions. Test and validate code to ensure robustness of data applications with version control through GitHub. Telecommuting permitted pursuant to company policy.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, or related field, plus two (2) years of experience as a Research Data Scientist, Associate Programmer Analyst, or related occupation.

Must have experience with the following: working with biomedical data in healthcare or pharmaceutical industries; evolutionary computing: genetic algorithm and genetic programming; automated machine learning analysis methods: the tree-based pipeline optimization tool; working with biomedical knowledge graphs; peer-reviewed publications; and working with both clinical data and genetics data.

Salary: $94,800 - $161,000 per year
