*** DURATION: 6 months+ Contract with high possibility of extension
*** SCHEDULE: Training Schedule:
- Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM CST
Permanent Schedule:
- Monday – Friday | 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM CST
Pay Rate: $55.00/hr. - $60.00/hr.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing clinical oversight and operational support for specialty pharmacy patient care teams. This role focuses heavily on:
- Patient counseling
- Clinical review of therapies
- Medication safety
- REMS program compliance
- Pharmacy operations oversight
- This is a highly patient-facing and phone-intensive role within specialty pharmacy operations.
- Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pharmacotherapy reviews including:
- Drug utilization
- Drug interaction screening
- Side effect profiling
- Compliance review
- Counseling support
- Document clinical review outcomes in patient charts
- Counsel patients on specialty therapies and treatment plans
- Complete REMS training and follow SOPs accordingly
- Coordinate patient care with:
- Clinicians
- Caregivers
- Nurses
- Home health providers
- Provide subcutaneous injection teaching support
- Perform intake for new patient referrals
- Support adherence to clinical management models
- Operations Responsibilities
- Verify prescription accuracy and final product quality
- Ensure compliance with:
- State Board regulations
- Federal pharmacy laws
- Medicare/Medicaid requirements
- Support pharmacy technicians with claims adjudication
- Supervise pharmacy personnel and aseptic practices
- Monitor hazardous waste handling within pharmacy operations
- Report on adverse events and product quality complaints
- Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain continuing education requirements
- Support development of pharmacy staff
- Participate in conferences and professional learning activities
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: High School diploma
- Active Texas Pharmacist License in good standing
- 2–3+ years of direct counseling experience
- 3–5+ years of pharmacy operations, clinical oversight, or patient care experience preferred
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy
- BCOP certified or willing to obtain certification when eligible.
