POSITION: Hazardous Waste SupervisorSEASON: Temporary PositionLOCATION: Remote SECTOR/DEPT: Six Mile, LLC AntarcticaESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinate with Hazardous Waste Manager to set priority for departmentEnsure all incoming employees receive proper training, and maintain a log of this informationCoordinate with other departments to ensure efficient pick up and processing of hazardous wasteDaily tasking and supervision of departmentAssist with writing mid- and post-season evaluation for the crewAttend weekly meetings in the event of Hazardous Waste Manager's absence Conduct community Waste Briefs or other informational sessions if necessaryTroubleshoot any issues that arise and elevate them to Hazardous Waste Manager as needed.Using the proper PPE for various tasks (correct gloves, respirator, safety glasses, etc.)Perform certain classification qualitative testing on items (pH testing, flash point testing, etc.)Lab packingAccurate input into haz waste tracking databaseQuality check all shipping containers and correct discrepancies immediatelyFollow all JHA's, and update them if neededAssist the Solid Waste Department as needed Write spill reports, if applicablePosition requires constant physical activity, including bending, consistently lifting and carrying 50 - 70 lbs, reaching and grippingAgrees with and adheres to the Standard Operating Procedures and tasking responsibilities of the Waste departmentAble to work in a team unit composed of diverse personalitiesDisplays self-motivation in physically challenging and atypical work environment; position is comprised of approximately 90% outdoor tasking Able to maintain flexibility and positive attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced work settingPerforms duties in support of Operations Division metrics (as provided by supervisor)Supports the achievement of ASC metrics, whether metrics are directly or indirectly, effected by this position's work activitiesComplies with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance, requirements and goals. A prerequisite of employment for this position is to successfully gain a favorable Elevated Background Investigation (EBI) result prior to deployment.
