Job description

Overview

Senior Software Engineer – Embedded/Radar, part of the Gen4 Tactical Airborne Radar group at Raytheon Space and Air Division, located in El Segundo, CA.

Location

Onsite, El Segundo, CA Campus. Requires a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret) and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities
  • Work on complex technical problems and provide highly innovative solutions.
  • Contribute at all phases of the software development lifecycle, including software/hardware integration.
  • Develop real‑time embedded software for various radar modes and capabilities.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues, assess root causes, and develop corrective actions.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary internal and external teams.
  • Participate in program and customer meetings/reviews.
  • Support program leads on technical decisions and problem resolution.
  • Perform technical leadership roles for key tasks or line items on programs.
  • Mentor at least one junior engineer in areas of technical expertise.
  • Help ensure performance to technical, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
  • Support system and software requirements, architecture generation, and analysis as needed.
  • Obtain and maintain special access programs (SAP/SAR) for continued employment.
Qualifications – Required
  • STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience coding in C/C++/ADA or related languages/tools across the SDLC.
  • Experience with UNIX, Linux, Windows, VxWorks, or other RTOS environments.
  • Experience working in an agile/scrum team with typical agile tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience developing radar software applications.
  • Direct experience with agile methodologies.
  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex systems.
  • Experience with large, complex airborne radar systems.
