Property Maintenance Technician

Location: Chicago, IL

Pay Rate: $22 - $23

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift - 8:00 AM – 4:00PM (with overtime)

Assignment Type: Temp-to-Hire

Requirements: Resume/Interview/Authorized to work in the U.S.


Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and trustworthy Property Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe property, and has excellent communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Complete basic maintenance and handyman tasks throughout the property.
  • Respond to approximately 2-5 maintenance work orders per day 
  • Remove trash and transport dumpsters using a powered dumpster-pulling machine.
  • Keep the grounds and exterior areas clean and well-maintained. 
  • Prepare and turn over resident rooms or apartments when needed (occurs infrequently). Turn over rooms as residents leave- clean, make minor repairs, and make sure it's ready to re-rent ( painting, patch walls, drywall, etc.) 
  • Perform basic painting and touch-up work as needed.
  • Maintain common areas to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This includes doing the garbage and cleaning the facility, including the public restrooms. 
  • Communicate professionally with residents, visitors, and staff. Must be able to document work orders by writing and using an iPad to document. 
  • Report maintenance issues that require licensed contractors or specialized repairs.

Requirements: 

  • Must be dependable, trustworthy, and self-motivated. Working around people. 
  • Previous property maintenance, apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, or handyman experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Basic knowledge of painting, minor repairs, and general building maintenance. Must be able to use basic tools for property maintenance repairs
  • Ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform physical work throughout the day.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
  • Stable work history
  • Lift up to 50lbs
