Job description

Overview

From logos and name plates to posters and banners, the visuals you create shape how NUWC Keyport presents itself every day. As FWI's Graphic Designer supporting the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division (NUWC) Keyport on a temporary 12-week assignment, your day-to-day work will center on producing high-quality graphic design deliverables-logos, banners, posters, name plates, and other visual materials-for the command's printed and virtual communications. Beyond your daily design workload, you'll also bring a camera and a production eye to command events, capturing photography, video, and livestreams that help tell NUWC Keyport's story. If you thrive on turning ideas into polished visuals and can move comfortably between design software and a camera rig, this role puts your full creative skill set to work.

Work Schedule and Location:

Hybrid: This full-time temporary hybrid position will work Monday through Friday, 8 AM PST to 5 PM PST, with 10% onsite at Navy Keyport 610 Dowell Rd, Keyport, WA 98345. The remainder of the work will be performed at FWI's Poulsbo, WA facility at 19578 10th Ave NE Suite #100 Poulsbo, WA 98370 and from home.

Responsibilities
  • Design and produce day-to-day graphic materials such as logos, banners, posters, name plates, and other visual products, working independently or as part of a production team
  • Design and develop graphics and visual effects used in other printed and virtual materials as needed
  • Create high-quality computer illustrations, technical drawings, and animations to support a variety of media
  • Use specialized hardware and/or software for video and audio capture and editing of multimedia presentations
  • Apply principles of layout design consistently throughout the production process
  • Perform quality control, review, and revision of all aspects of graphics development
  • Provide photography and videography support for command events, including town halls, live streams, and other multimedia presentations
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and production team members to ensure visual and multimedia products meet command standards and communication objectives
  • Perform other miscellaneous graphic design and multimedia production duties as deemed appropriate by the government point of contact
Qualifications

Required: 

  • Associate's Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 3+ years of full-time experience in graphic design, including development of print and digital visual materials
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance required at time of application

Desired: 

  • Experience with photography and videography, including live-event, livestream, or town-hall coverage
  • Proficiency with industry-standard graphic design and multimedia software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent)
  • Experience with video/audio capture equipment and editing software
  • Strong understanding of layout design principles and production workflows
  • Prior experience supporting DoD, Navy, or other federal government clients
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a production team

Work Setting and Environment:

  • Primary location: Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division (NUWC) Keyport, Keyport, WA and FWI's Poulsbo, WA Facility
  • Duration: Temporary assignment, Up to 12 weeks
  • Operating hours: Standard business hours, Monday through Friday; hours per day and week as directed by the government point of contact
  • On-site work required to support in-person events, live streams, and command activities
  • Must complete required onboarding, badging, and system access per task order procedures
  • Government-furnished equipment provided as applicable; no work may be performed on a personal computer
