The Opportunity:
As a Feeder Catcher you will support printing press operations by operating the mechanical sheet feeder and assisting the press operator with setup, maintenance, and production activities. This role is critical to ensuring efficient press performance, product quality, and safe operations. You will work closely with production teams to prepare materials, monitor press conditions, and maintain a clean and organized work environment while contributing to overall operational success.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
  • Operate the mechanical sheet feeder to support press production efficiently.
  • Assist the press operator with setup, repair, and maintenance of press equipment.
  • Clear machines before and after runs, removing and destroying foreign materials and disposing of waste.
  • Review job tickets to select proper paper types and quantities and inspect materials for defects.
  • Load and unload paper and move printed and unprinted stock as needed.
  • Obtain and manage inks maintaining proper ink levels in fountains during operations.
  • Prepare and maintain fountain solutions, including monitoring pH and conductivity levels.
  • Assist in mounting plates, blankets, and packing materials for press setup.
  • Perform routine press adjustments to maintain quality during production runs.
  • Complete required documentation, including ISO forms and quality checks, accurately and on time.
  • Inspect printed sheets against specifications, including mylar checks and coating knockouts.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure the press remains clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety regulations and company policies during all job tasks.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support production operations.

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through testing or prior experience.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
