Job description

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE & GENERATION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the engineering and construction of temporary and permanent power generation plants, including gas/diesel generators, gas turbines, solar arrays, and hybrid systems to meet facility energy demands and reduce peak grid impacts.
  • Oversee the build and commissioning of power generation infrastructure, coordinating with construction teams to ensure safe, efficient installation and integration with existing site power distribution and utility feeds.
  • Develop maintenance programs for power systems, including predictive maintenance schedules, performance monitoring, and upgrades to enhance reliability and longevity.
  • Perform detailed power system analyses, including load forecasting, energy modeling, and optimization for cost and efficiency in a high-demand manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with utility providers to negotiate and implement grid interconnections, while designing resilient on-site generation to minimize downtime during outages or expansions.
  • Conduct hands-on troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on power generation equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements along with working with contractors on larger issues and repairs.
  • Drive innovation in sustainable power solutions, such as incorporating energy storage and renewable sources into permanent generation plants.
  • Develop long term facility load ramps with site personnel from various teams to determine power needs across various buildings and product teams for energy procurement and utility/generation expansion.
  • Support overall facility power strategy through risk management, budgeting, and reporting on generation performance metrics.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power generation design, construction, or maintenance.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing facility electrical engineering, ideally in aerospace, telecommunications, or high-tech sectors.
  • Experience working with utility providers for grid connections, metering, and demand management.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or SKM PowerTools).
  • Knowledge of power generation systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, and protective relaying.
  • Direct experience with utility-specific requirements, including interconnection agreements, tariffs, and renewable integration.
  • Expertise in designing hybrid power systems combining utility feeds with on-site generation (temporary and permanent), including microgrids or energy storage solutions.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with sustainable energy practices, such as integrating solar or battery storage for facility resilience.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading electrical construction projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical ability to perform hands-on work in various environments, including heat, cold, rain, and tight quarters.
  • Ability to work onsite at our Bastrop, TX facility (Remote work not considered).
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
