* Please note, this job is for the Vicker's site in New Troy, MI (West side of Michigan).

Title: Quality Control Engineer

Reports to: Quality Control Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt, Salaried

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm


Quality Engineer job description and profile

A quality engineer monitors and tests product quality, ensures compliance with standards, identifies issues, and recommends solutions


Responsibilities

  • Administer corrective/preventative actions both internally and externally
  • Process parameter development
  • Implement SPC to shop floor
  • Lean methods
  • Basic blueprint reading/interpretation, GD&T
  • Problem solving techniques and skills
  • Complete and implement 8D corrective actions

Experience

  • Statistical Process Control implementation and utilization
  • Root cause analysis/Problem solving techniques

  • Complete and implement 8D corrective actions
  • Firm understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with MeasureLink (not required but welcomed)


Quality engineer education and qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge in an Automotive IATF 16949 system
  • 4-7 years' experience in a role as a Quality Control Engineer


Physical Requirements

  • Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items
  • Responding to public address system announcements
  • Walking and standing
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds or more


Environmental Job Requirements

  • Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the shop, temporary cracks may appear in teh floor, causing an uneven walking surface
  • The shop environment can be dusty and noisy
  • Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes
  • Floors around the work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions, or liquids such as coolants and oils from the machinery
  • May have to handle parts with sharp edges
  • Passing forklifts emit gas fumes
  • Tools, supplies, and related materials may contain hazardous materials
  • May have to occasionally work outdoors where temperatures and climate can function


Personal Protection Equipment

  • Wearing Safety Glasses when working on the shop floor
