Job description

We are looking for a PLASTICS EXTRUSION OPERATOR to join our Montgomery, AL plant.  As a Plastics Extrusion Operator with Contech you will contribute to America’s essential infrastructure including drainage systems, pipe, bridges and structures, and stormwater management.

About the Role

Responsibilities:

  • Receives instructions and schedules from plant supervision.
  • Is familiar with Plant Policy and in the absence of supervisory personnel ensures polices are enforced.
  • Ensure the safety of all extrusion personnel and in the absence of supervisory personnel has the authority to take measures necessary to ensure the safety of all plant personnel.         
  • Train all extrusion personnel.           
  • Start-up all lines and make any necessary adjustments to equipment to ensure the profile is within specification. 
  • Restart equipment after a power failure.
  • Perform in process Quality Control tests to ensure pipe and fittings are within specifications.
  • Monitor equipment and fill Critical to Quality items, as well as assist maintenance personnel when necessary.   
  • In case of standard extrusion equipment failure, adjust plant equipment to meet the needs of extrusion.
  • Shutdown equipment as required by production requirements or in case of emergency.             
  • Operates forklift/spool lift to maintain production flow.
  • Record production onto production reports.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in clean, orderly conditions.

About You

We Require:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work with precision instruments.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • One to two years experience in extrusion.
