Job description

School Bus Driver

Under the direction of an assigned Administrator, operates a school bus or transportation vehicle over designated routes within an established time schedule; transports students to and from school and on special events trips; performs daily inspections of a bus or transportation equipment; and performs other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year of paid experience in the transportation of school children, or the completion of a school bus driver training program. Recent job-related experience within the last five years is required. EDUCATION: Verification of a High School diploma, a GED certificate, or a higher degree is required at time of hire.

A COMPLETE EDJOIN APPLICATION CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certification (Possession of a valid California School Bus Driver's Certificate issued by the California Highway Patrol to operate a Type 1 Transit with air brakes.)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate - CPR must be an in-person course AND both First Aid and CPR must be from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.)
  • DMV Printout (A current "K-4" DMV Printout dated within the last 30 days from DMV (Kiosk printout is accepted).)
  • Driver's License Copy (Possession of a valid California Class B License with air brake, passengers, and school bus endorsement.)
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (*Two (2) letters of recommendation are required. Each letter must be signed and dated within one (1) year prior to the date the application is submitted. * Acceptable signatures include electronic signatures completed through DocuSign or a similar electronic signature platform, or handwritten signatures. Typed signatures will not be accepted.)

Application Requirements Applicants must clearly and specifically describe how they meet the qualifications for the position. Testing and Interview Process Test dates, times, and locations will be determined after the position closes. Qualified applicants will be notified by email. A valid government-issued photo identification is required. Late arrivals will not be admitted. Conditions of Employment All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, TB test, and background checks conducted by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The District does not pay third-party vendors for employment references. Foreign Transcript Evaluation Applicants who completed coursework at institutions outside the United States must obtain a professional evaluation of their foreign transcripts and degrees prior to applying and upload the evaluation with their application. Evaluations must be completed by one of the approved agencies listed on the Rialto Unified School District website. These agencies charge a fee and require original official documentation. Veterans' Examination Credit Veterans seeking examination credit must electronically attach a copy of their DD214 (proof of service and/or disability) to their application.
