| Aspect | Temporary Packaging Engineer | Packaging Technician |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; certifications may include PMP or Six Sigma | High school diploma or equivalent; on-the-job training |
| Work Environment | Design, development, and testing of packaging solutions; collaboration with engineering teams | Hands-on packaging assembly, testing, and quality checks on production lines |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Manufacturers, logistics companies, and packaging firms during project-based work | Manufacturing plants, warehouses, and distribution centers for daily operations |
Temporary Packaging Engineers focus on designing and testing packaging solutions for specific projects, often requiring engineering credentials. - Support pursuit efforts including bid reviews, quantity takeoffs, pricing strategy, and risk evaluation
- Interface with public agencies including DOTs, USACE, rail authorities, port authorities, and municipal owners
- Travel to active marine construction job sites up to 75% of the time as required

- Railroad infrastructure and rail bridge work
- Deep foundation systems and pile-supported structures
- Strong working knowledge of marine construction methods including work from floating platforms and temporary work in water
- Experience managing public infrastructure contracts with complex specifications and regulatory requirements
- Advanced understanding of scheduling (Primavera P6 or MS Project), cost control, forecasting, and contract management
