ABOUT THE POSITION

The Location Grain Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and the profitability of the Grain department for the assigned location(s). A description of the duties includes:

  • Manages the overall operations of the Grain department in accordance with the Company policies and procedures;
  • Provides leadership, training and supervision to the location's Grain employees;
  • Promotes company and branch location employee cohesiveness through effective communication, teamwork and shared services;
  • Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements;
  • Prepares and presents safety meetings for respective location(s);
  • Responsible for emergency coordination in accordance with company policy and procedure, in the event of an accident or disaster;
  • Responsible for maintaining clean facilities, and complying with all state and federal regulations pertaining to a safe workplace, housekeeping, and all activities that require regulation compliance;
  • Ensures routine elevator maintenance is being performed at the assigned location(s). This includes pre-harvest inspections twice per year.
  • Oversees the service and maintenance of loaders and other equipment used for grain hauling;
  • Ensures maintenance, organization and cleanliness of department buildings, elevators, equipment, grounds, and rolling stock/vehicles;
  • Responsible for grain quality, condition and accurate grain inventory;
  • Monitors the shipment processes at the locations and ensures employees are following procedures. Assist in minimizing the discounts on outbound loads.
  • Ensures accurate bin temp reading in a timely fashion each week and report to the Area and/or Regional Manager;
  • Submits accurate location reports in a timely manner to include: housekeeping, unscheduled maintenance, and monthly manager inspections;
  • Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responding promptly to customer needs, resolving questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meeting commitments;
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management;
  • Present a clean and professional appearance;
  • Perform all other duties as directed by management;
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Supervisory experience preferred;
  • Valid driver's license required;
  • Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
