Job Description
New River Community College (NRCC) is a comprehensive community college located in the New River Valley of Virginia. At NRCC you can prepare for the future with any of our various occupational programs or college transfer courses. NRCC faculty members are well known not just for their academic background, but also for their capacity to work closely and effectively with students. You'll find that they have a genuine interest in your success. They also have excellent academic credentials. All faculty who teach college transfer courses have doctorates or master's degrees, while those in occupational programs have a diverse background which combines academics with practical on-the-job experience. In recent years individual professors and college programs have received state and national awards for their quality.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
NRCC is updating potential adjunct faculty files and welcomes applications from qualified individuals. Most teaching areas require a master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the subject being taught. Areas of interest include Accounting, Art, Biology, Business Management, Financial Management, Chemistry, Computers, Economics, Engineering, English, Geography, Health, History, Math, Music, Physical Education, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sign Communications, Sociology, Spanish, Speech and Statistics.
The following subject areas require at least a bachelor's degree and experience in teaching the listed courses, with a master's degree preferred: Early Childhood Development, Human Services, Marketing, Nursing, Police Science, Teamwork, Conflict Resolution, Problem Solving, Programming (Oracle, COBOL, Visual Basic, C++, JAVA), Microcomputer applications in business using MS Office 2013, Networking, Web Design, Database Management, Microcomputer Architecture and Operating Systems.
The following teaching fields require a bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years' occupational experience: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Architecture, Automotive, Blueprint Reading, Drafting and Design, Electricity, Electronics and Machine.
The following teaching field requires a high school diploma or equivalent (Associate's in the teaching field preferred) and industry recognized credentials: Welding.
All positions are part-time and hours will vary.
