Job description


The Enterprise Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Electrical Systems is responsible for developing, standardizing, and delivering enterprise-level technical training for Data Center Critical Facilities Engineering (DCFE) personnel across Oracle's global data center portfolio. As a member of the DCFE Training Center of Excellence, this role serves as the technical authority for electrical infrastructure training and partners closely with Instructional Designers to develop curriculum, qualification standards, and learning solutions.
This position is centrally based in Nashville and requires frequent travel to Oracle data center campuses to support instructor-led training, operational readiness, commissioning activities, and workforce development initiatives.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the enterprise training authority for critical electrical systems.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise electrical training standards and qualification requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Commissioning teams to ensure training reflects current technologies, equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Incorporate lessons learned, operational events, and equipment changes into enterprise curriculum.
Training Delivery
  • Deliver instructor-led classroom and field-based training for DCFE personnel.
  • Conduct hands-on instruction using electrical distribution equipment and operational scenarios.
  • Facilitate advanced technical workshops for experienced operators and technicians.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities for new campuses.
  • Travel to Oracle data center campuses to deliver scheduled training programs and specialized technical instruction.
Curriculum Development
  • Partner with Instructional Designers to create and maintain:
    • Technical training courses
    • Qualification pathways
    • Instructor guides
    • Student learning materials
    • Knowledge assessments
    • Practical performance evaluations
    • Equipment-specific job aids
  • Review and validate the technical accuracy of all electrical training content.
Operational Readiness
  • Support enterprise workforce capability initiatives related to electrical operations.
  • Develop standardized qualification criteria for electrical systems and switching activities.
  • Recommend improvements to training based on technology evolution, operational trends, and business needs.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify enterprise knowledge gaps and recommend training solutions.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through learner performance, operational feedback, and qualification metrics.
  • Maintain current knowledge of electrical distribution technologies, OEM updates, codes, and industry best practices.

Technical Scope
This role provides subject matter expertise for systems including, but not limited to:
  • Utility service entrance equipment
  • Medium Voltage (MV) distribution systems
  • Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems
  • Switchgear and switchboards
  • Power transformers
  • Protective relays and coordination
  • Busway systems
  • Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
  • Static Transfer Switches (STS)
  • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
  • Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
  • Electrical one-line diagrams
  • Grounding and bonding systems
  • Electrical system monitoring
  • Electrical switching procedures
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) as it applies to electrical operations
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance practices
  • Electrical troubleshooting and fault response
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive experience operating and maintaining mission-critical electrical infrastructure in hyperscale, enterprise, utility, or industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems supporting critical facilities.
  • Experience performing or overseeing electrical switching operations in mission-critical environments.
  • Experience developing or delivering technical training for adult learners.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex electrical concepts into practical, operational training.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to Oracle data center campuses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in hyperscale data center operations.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and startup of electrical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of electrical protection systems and power quality.
  • Experience developing technical curriculum or qualification programs.
  • Professional certifications or licenses related to electrical systems or critical facilities.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $114,600 to $234,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
