Job Description & Requirements
Occupational Therapist - Home Health - (OT - HH)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 D Pay Rate: $2364.00 - $2436.00
This Home Health Occupational Therapist contract is based in Anchorage, Alaska, an exciting urban hub surrounded by dramatic natural beauty. Anchorage offers the rare combination of city conveniences and easy access to wilderness adventures. You will find scenic mountain and coastal views, miles of trails for hiking and biking, winter sports such as skiing and snowshoeing, and opportunities for wildlife viewing, including moose and eagles. The city features a lively restaurant scene with fresh local seafood, cultural attractions such as museums and galleries, and community events that highlight Alaska’s unique heritage. Living and working here provides a distinct, memorable experience that many clinicians consider both professionally and personally rewarding. In this role, you will provide comprehensive home health occupational therapy services to adult patients in their homes within the Anchorage area and surrounding communities. This is a 13-week contract assignment with an ASAP start date. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with no on-call requirements, and an expected 40 hours per week under a guaranteed work week structure. Your typical day will include traveling to patient homes, performing functional and environmental assessments, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, and documenting visits using OASIS and the facility’s EMR. You will focus on improving safety, independence, and quality of life for patients who may be recovering from surgery, managing chronic conditions, or living with functional limitations. Responsibilities commonly include ADL and IADL training, energy conservation strategies, home safety evaluations, recommendations for durable medical equipment, and caregiver education. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team that may include nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and other professionals to support coordinated, patient-centered care. Patient volume and caseload are structured to align with a standard full-time home health schedule, allowing you to plan your day around travel time, visit durations, and documentation needs. You can expect a mix of evaluation and follow-up visits, with opportunities to develop strong therapeutic relationships as you see patients in their own environments. This role offers meaningful autonomy, as you will use clinical judgment to adjust treatment plans, identify safety concerns, and coordinate with the broader care team to achieve optimal outcomes. Anchorage’s healthcare community is known for its collaborative spirit and resilience, with professionals who value teamwork and the ability to deliver high-quality care across a broad geographic area. Working here can strengthen your skills in independent practice, time management, and complex clinical decision-making, making this assignment an excellent resume builder for future roles in home health and community-based care.
