We strive to provide comprehensive therapeutic services and programs utilizing a variety of professional restorative aids, nature‑based learning, and skilled equine movement to facilitate physical and emotional growth, learning, and healing.


Position Overview

We are seeking a Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT / OTR/L) to join our team. This role blends traditional occupational therapy practice with outdoor, equine‑assisted, and nature‑based approaches. The OT will collaborate with trained horse handlers and support staff to ensure safe, engaging, and effective sessions focused on functional skill development and meaningful participation in daily life.


Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy services in an outpatient, nature‑based setting.
  • Incorporate equine assisted services and movement-based interventions into treatment sessions, when appropriate.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans focused on improving fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, emotional regulation, and functional independence.
  • Collaborate with horse handlers and team members to maintain a safe and supportive therapy environment.
  • Build strong relationships with participants and families through compassionate, client-centered care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Support the mission of Strides of Strength by fostering growth, confidence, and resilience.

Qualifications (or eligible for licensure).
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) in the state of South Carolina.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior experience with equine assisted services or comfort around horses preferred, but not required.
  • Willingness to complete equine-assisted or hippotherapy-related training (provided).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for working outdoors and in a nontraditional, participant-centered environment.
