What is a temporary non linear video editor?

A Temporary Non Linear Video Editor is a professional who is hired for a short-term period to edit video content using non-linear editing (NLE) software. Unlike traditional linear editing, non-linear editing allows editors to access any frame in a digital video clip regardless of sequence, making the process more flexible and efficient. These editors typically work on projects such as commercials, TV shows, films, or social media content, and their contracts usually last for the duration of a specific project or a set timeframe. They are skilled in using software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or Avid Media Composer. Temporary roles may be offered by production companies, broadcasting studios, or freelance opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temporary non linear video editor?

To thrive as a Temporary Non Linear Video Editor, you need expertise in video editing, storytelling, and a strong grasp of timing and visual composition, typically supported by a degree in film, media, or relevant experience. Mastery of industry-standard non-linear editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or Avid Media Composer is essential, and familiarity with audio editing tools and color grading systems is often required. Attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to collaborate under tight deadlines are crucial soft skills for success. These abilities ensure the delivery of high-quality, engaging content that meets client specifications and project timelines.

What are some common challenges temporary non linear video editors face when joining new projects or teams?

Temporary non linear video editors often encounter challenges such as adapting quickly to different workflows, software versions, and project organization styles set by various teams. Each production may have unique asset management systems, naming conventions, or editorial preferences that require fast learning and flexibility. Additionally, building rapport with new collaborators, such as producers and sound designers, is important to ensure smooth communication and feedback cycles, even within tight deadlines. Embracing adaptability and strong organizational skills can help editors succeed across diverse assignments.

As a Social Media Intern, you will help showcase the heart of NuMark Credit Union by creating meaningful digital content that connects with our members and communities. You will amplify their stories, strengthen engagement, and play a key role in bringing our mission and values to life online.

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller who enjoys creating engaging digital content, stays current on social media trends, and is eager to gain hands-on experience supporting the marketing efforts of a community-focused financial institution. This position follows a hybrid work arrangement, with a combination of remote work from home and in-person work at our Warrenville Branch. The first week of the internship will be conducted entirely in person at the Warrenville Branch to support onboarding and training.

What You'll Do:
  • Create engaging social media content including posts, graphics, stories, photography, and short-form videos tailored to platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube.

  • Assist in writing captions that reflect NuMark's voice, mission, and compliance standards
  • Support planning, scheduling, and publishing content using Hootsuite
  • Notify the Marketing Manager when member inquiries or direct messages require follow-up
  • Identify opportunities for positive engagement and member storytelling
  • Support marketing campaigns promoting products such as loans, checking accounts, digital banking, financial education, and youth programs
  • Contribute to developing strategies that grow audience engagement
  • Assist in coordinating social media assets for events, seminars, sponsorships, and community initiatives
  • Track performance metrics including reach, engagement, clicks, and follower growth
  • Prepare monthly social media performance reports

  • Brainstorm new content ideas aligned with NuMark's values of trust, community, and financial well-being
  • Capture and edit photography and short-form video content at branch events, community activities, seminars, and sponsorships.
  • Maintain content calendars and help organize digital asset libraries
  • Stay current on social media trends relevant to member engagement and community building
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a college degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field
  • Understanding of trends and platform-specific best practices for Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, or InDesign
  • Basic photography and videography skills
  • Photo and video editing experience
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Experience with analytics tools such as Meta Insights or Google Analytics preferred
  • Must provide a portfolio showcasing relevant social media, graphic design, photography, videography, or other digital content work
