JOB SUMMARYUnder the general direction of a supervisor assists in the daily operations and maintenance of the City's docks, and marina. Provides customer service to boaters including boat mooring, fueling, slip assignments, maintains marina cleanliness and performs general maintenance tasks to ensure safe and efficient operations; does related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES- Assists boaters with docking, securing vessels, and departure procedures.
- Helps assign transient dock space under the direction of the supervisor.
- Monitors docks, slips, and marina areas to ensure safe use of facilities.
- Provides information to boaters regarding marina rules, facilities, and services.
- Assists with collecting or verifying permits, dockage fees, and required documentation when directed.
- Maintains cleanliness of docks, piers, walkways, and surrounding marina areas.
- Removes debris and reports hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Assists with routine inspections of docks, floats, gangways, and safety equipment.
- Helps install, remove, or adjust dock equipment, lines, and signage.
- Performs minor maintenance tasks including painting, cleaning, and light repairs.
- Assists with fueling procedures or pump-out services if applicable and trained.
- Assists with storm preparation, securing docks, and other seasonal marina operations.
- May assist with monitoring vessel activity and reporting violations of marina regulations.
- Supports special waterfront events or marina activities as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES- Basic knowledge of boating and dock operations preferred.
- Ability to provide courteous and helpful customer service to the public.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to observe safety procedures and recognize potential hazards.
- Ability to communicate clearly with boaters, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Ability to perform general labor tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Some boating, marina, or outdoor labor experience preferred but not required.
- Must be at least 16 or 18 years old depending on municipal policy.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
If the position is a seasonal/temporary position, it is not eligible for union benefits.
