Registered Nurse- Pulmonology

96th Medical Group, Eglin AFB, FL.

Place of Performance: The work to be performed under this contract will be at the 96th Medical Group Campus. HCWs shall receive notification two weeks prior to the reassignment to another location with a 40-mile commuting radius of their assigned MTF.

Mission Essential: n/a

The primary duties of the RN will be performed in the Pulmonology clinic, however, duties may be assigned in other clinics within the Medicine Services Flight to meet mission requirements.

The Pulmonology clinic sees adult patients.

MTF Hours of Performance: The performance hours of the MTF are as follows: Monday – Friday between the hours of 0630-1730

Work Schedule: Shall perform the services required under this contract between the following hours: Monday through Friday 0700-1600; however, schedules may vary to accommodate demand. Services are for a 9-hour period to include a one-hour (non-paid) lunch. The HCW will not be required to work on weekends or Federal Holidays.

Duty Hours: 1,912

Scheduling: The schedule or scheduling process is as follows:

Duty hours will be scheduled by the Flight Commander, or designee, to correspond with the needs of the department.

Recognized Holidays: Contract HCWs will not be required to work on federally recognized holidays.

New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Juneteenth Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day

Any planned absences of the HCW shall be communicated to the Government supervisor 30 days in advance of the absence to ensure that clinical operations are not adversely affected.

HCW Duties: The duties for the HCW are as follows:

  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
  • Perform health histories.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications and numerous other personalized interventions to include, but not limited to, conscious sedation during applicable procedures.
  • Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals.
  • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
  • Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
  • Documentation. Contractor employees shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established MTF standards, to include, but not limited to: timeliness, accuracy, content, and signature. Contractor employees shall only use MTF and Air Force-approved abbreviations for documentation in the patient health records and follow the MTF's Do Not Use Abbreviation List. (AFI 44-172, Medical Operations Mental Health / AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards)
  • Medical Records Documentation. Health care providers shall complete medical records documentation within 72 business hours of the encounter with the patient.
  • Coding. Contractor employees shall use the proper coding of procedures and treatment and shall maintain coding accuracy (CPT/E&M/procedure) at the same standard, 90% or higher, as military and civil service health care providers engaged in comparable work.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree/Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or minimum of 3 years of nursing experience with an Associate Degree of Nursing may be considered. Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Certifications: HCWs shall maintain and possess current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross emblem. Web-based classes do not meet required standards.

HCWs shall possess and maintain current Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Experience: Shall have a minimum of 36 months of experience as a Registered Nurse within the last 48 months. Experience in conscious sedation is required.

** Critical Care experience is preferred but not required

Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): None

Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse

Certificates/licenses/training shall be maintained in a current status at all times while performing services under this contract. If at any time during the contract the Contractor HCP does not renew any of the required certifications/licenses prior to the expiration date, he will not be allowed to work at a Military Treatment Facility, Hospital, or Clinic.
