Preference may be given to candidates with a strong connection to the local Tribes, experience in the community, or references from respected community members.

Roll Accountabilities:

  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Primary roles and responsibilities will be related to obtaining quality samples from exploratory drill core.
    • Unstacking core boxes onto racks for geologists to log core.
    • Preparing sample bags by labelling with legible sample numbers from provided lists.
    • Sampling drill core by utilizing an automated core cutting saw to split core in half.
    • Ensuring representative cut core is collected for analysis in correct bags defined by sample depths provided by geologists.
    • Preparing samples for shipment by loading bags into either totes or supersacks.
    • Strapping core pallets once sampling is complete.
    • Loading delivery truck with propane powered forklift.
    • Placing stacked pallets in yard with forklift in an organized matter.
    • Continuously maintain good housekeeping practices.
    • Maintain daily progress reports.
  • Secondary role may involve assisting in logging, sampling, and general labor.
    • Weighing core boxes and recording values in spreadsheets.
    • Taking measurements with tape measures of recovered core lengths and entering measurements into spreadsheets.
    • Moving and unstacking pallets of drill core for various geophysical and geotechnical analyses. Re-stacking, re-strapping, and replacing pallets in correct location.
    • Labelling and covering core pallets for long term storage.
    • Helping stake road, sample, and drill pad locations in the field site roughly 30 minutes west of Yerington.
    • General labor tasks.
    • Picking up people or supplies from as far Reno Nevada if needed in company vehicles.
  • Will be required to assist geology and survey department with field works, housekeeping, and general labor tasks as required.
  • This position will involve repeated lifting of up to 75lbs.
  • Work will be primarily outside, under an open tent shelter with the core saw, or in a warehouse setting.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. and meet all other requirements of the job
  • Ability to write legibly
  • Positive work ethic
  • Maintain a drug and alcohol-free workplace
  • Have reliable transportation to office (any transportation to the field will be in company vehicles)
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous outdoor labor experience
  • Forklift experience
  • Basic MS Excel and Word experience

The work environment will necessitate work near moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions such as hot and/or dry conditions. Work will be conducted in locations where noise, fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration may exist.

Employee will be expected to drive a company vehicle, rental vehicle and/or his/her own vehicle in the course of performing the job, Employee must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle, including use of eyes, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current and valid driver's license.
