Job Summary
Allgheny Steel, a trusted leader in steel processing located in Indianola, PA, is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Shear Operator to join our production team. This role is responsible for operating metal shearing equipment to cut steel to precise customer specifications while maintaining accuracy, quality, and a safe working environment.

Medium/Heavy work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Job Function
Key Responsibilities
  • Shear Machine Operation - Set up, operate, and monitor shear equipment to cut steel sheets, plates, or coils to required dimensions.
  • Material Handling - Safely load and unload steel using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
  • Quality Inspection - Measure and inspect finished pieces to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Equipment Setup - Adjust blades, back gauges, and machine settings based on job requirements.
  • Safety Compliance - Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures, including PPE use and safe material-handling practices.
  • Production Documentation - Record production data, material usage, and job completion details accurately.
  • Machine Maintenance - Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and routine checks to keep equipment in good working condition.
