JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Merchandiser

Reports to: Sales Manager

Job Summary

The Merchandiser is responsible for supporting the sales and delivery teams by merchandising products, maintaining visual standards, assisting with product rotation, and ensuring product availability at customer locations. This role plays a critical part in reinforcing the company’s brand presence and delivering an exceptional customer experience while complying with company policies, safety regulations, and operational standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Product Merchandising and Support
  • Assist Sales Representatives and Route Assistants by delivering, rotating, stocking, and displaying products at retail accounts.
  • Ensure product is merchandised according to company standards and promotional plans.
  • Install and maintain point-of-sale (POS) materials, including permanent and temporary displays.
  • Support sales team in executing monthly team-selling initiatives.
  • Attend team, company, and training meetings as requested to stay informed about promotions, product knowledge, and merchandising standards.
  1. Customer Service and Account Management
  • Build connection with store owners and managers of assigned accounts to foster long-term customer relationships.
  • Maintain familiarity with each account's layout, products carried, and display areas.
  • Respond promptly to customer requests and escalate unresolved issues to Team Leader or Sales Representative.
  1. Route and Fill-In Coverage
  • Provide route coverage when needed, including delivering products, collecting payments, rotating stock, and executing sales tickets.
  • Review and verify orders before leaving the warehouse; follow established route books and delivery sequences.
  • Observe product rotation requirements and report discrepancies or issues immediately.
  • Ensure accurate handling of money and receipts when filling in for drivers or sales personnel.
  1. Warehouse and Equipment Responsibilities
  • Assist with truck loading each morning to support delivery personnel.
  • Clean out assigned delivery vehicles daily; wash the exterior weekly.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of POS rooms, work areas, and loading zones.
  • Report any equipment damage, product loss, or safety issues to management promptly.
  1. Special Events and Additional Duties
  • Participate in weekend pull-up schedules and assist during special events as needed.
  • Handle and transport draft beer equipment and coolers when required.
  • Adhere to company policy prohibiting alcohol consumption during work hours or while operating company vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management or Team Leader.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in beverage distribution, merchandising, or warehouse operations preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong work ethics and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of beverage rotation, inventory handling, and merchandising principles.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Ability to safely operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and related warehouse equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs regularly and 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching required.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in various conditions including cold storage, outdoor environments, and retail spaces.

Work Environment

  • Field-based work with daily travel to retail accounts.
  • Warehouse environment during loading/unloading periods.
