Job description

About Blue Robotics
Blue Robotics makes affordable, high-quality hardware and software for marine robotics - from underwater thrusters and ROVs to autonomous surface vehicles and the software that runs them. We're a small, passionate team building tools that researchers, engineers, educators, and ocean enthusiasts use around the world.
About the Role
Blue Robotics is looking for a Packer to join our production team to package parts for underwater vehicles, thrusters, sensors, enclosures, and other products. As the Packer, each component that you package will go out into the world to help explore shipwrecks, study endangered species, map the ocean floor, and generally advance human understanding of the oceans.
Because our customers depend on our products performing consistently when they are out in the field, our manufacturing team is focused on continuous process improvement. For us that means you must be someone who is willing to learn and ask questions, comfortable receiving feedback, and can be trusted to work consistently with minimal supervision. Our products are being changed and updated frequently, so someone who is flexible and able to learn quickly is an ideal fit for this position.
We provide hands-on training and frequent check-ins to ensure you are comfortable and confident following packaging procedures. Within 30 days you will be comfortable with many of our products and by three months, we expect you to be able to fly solo; packaging products consistently and efficiently.
Who We're Looking For
Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately package and label products to meet quality standards;
  • Complete manufacturing orders in a timely manner;
  • Maintain detailed notes on each job when necessary;
  • Report scrap and waste;
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of products and proactively identify and report any issues;
  • Maintain an orderly workstation;
  • Report low stock and trigger re-orders;
  • Follow safety guidelines;
  • Communicate product or packaging issues as they arise;
  • Complete other tasks as needed from time to time

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Able to follow both written and verbal instructions;
  • Comfortable using basic tools (screwdriver, drill, tape gun, etc.);
  • High School diploma or GED;
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide);
  • Basic computer skills;

Physical Requirements:
The Packer often carries trays or bins of products from one area to another. Most work is completed while sitting down, although some operations require standing. Additionally, this position requires carrying, pulling/pushing, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, as well as using basic hand tools and lift assist. Packaging requires excellent visual capability with or without corrective lenses. Team members will be lifting objects weighing 30 lb frequently.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Monday thru Friday; Schedule Flexible (7-10am)
  • Medical and dental insurance
  • 401(k) Plan with 4% matching
  • Paid vacation hours + paid holidays
  • Paid parental leave
  • Plenty of parking
  • Team lunches and other fun events
