Job description

We are seeking a Measurement Systems Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and deployment of software for industrial measurement and inspection systems used in manufacturing environments across businesses. The role emphasizes C#/.NET software development, hardware integration, and deployment of robust solutions for production use. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on, collaborative, and self‑driven engineer who is comfortable working closely with imaging hardware and machine vision technologies to deliver reliable, production‑ready measurement systems.

Scope of Position:
Responsible for the design, development, integration, and support of software for advanced measurement and inspection systems used in manufacturing. This role supports distributed software applications that coordinate imaging, motion, I/O, sequencing, and data handling to perform product inspection, quality control, and related manufacturing functions. The engineer will develop new software capabilities, support software release and deployment activities, and work closely with cross‑functional teams to implement and sustain robust production solutions across businesses. This role will also help evaluate and establish effective AI‑assisted software development practices, including the use of agentic coding tools, to improve development workflows and team productivity.

Job Requirements

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software for industrial measurement and machine vision systems, primarily using C#/.NET.
  • Support software communication, coordination, configuration, and data handling across distributed measurement system applications.
  • Support the transfer of technology from development into manufacturing through software build, release, deployment, and system integration activities.
  • Help evaluate, adopt, and apply AI‑assisted and agentic coding tools to improve software development workflows, code quality, testing, and engineering efficiency.
  • Contribute to the definition of best practices for incorporating AI development tools into day‑to‑day software engineering activities in a controlled and effective manner.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including software specifications and support documentation.
  • Train engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel on the use, support, and maintenance of deployed systems.
  • Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting of software and integrated measurement systems.

Required Education:

  • Prefer BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Experience developing software applications in C#/.NET for production use, system integration, or industrial applications.
  • Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting software for distributed, multi-process, or integrated systems.
  • Familiarity with software communication and messaging methods such as publish/subscribe architectures, message queues, or similar approaches.
  • Experience with source control, software versioning, and build/release workflows using tools such as Git, GitLab, automated build systems, and package management tools.
  • Experience supporting software deployment, troubleshooting, and long‑term support in development or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical work and communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Interest in applying AI‑assisted and agentic coding tools to improve software development workflows, code quality, testing, and engineering productivity.

Desired Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with WPF user interface development frameworks in .NET.
  • Experience with motion control systems, cameras, image acquisition hardware, and integrated imaging platforms.
  • Hands‑on experience working with imaging hardware, cameras, measurement equipment, or related instrumentation.
  • Experience applying machine learning or computer vision methods to inspection, classification, or measurement problems.
  • Familiarity with databases, containerization, or high‑performance computing environments.
  • Experience evaluating, adopting, or helping define best practices for AI‑enabled software development workflows.
  • Knowledge of machine vision and image processing methods such as feature extraction, edge detection, morphology, classification, inspection, and metrology.
  • Experience with machine vision or image processing libraries such as Halcon, OpenCV, LabVIEW, or similar tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Results‑oriented with excellent problem‑solving abilities and a quick learning mindset.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently and adapting to dynamic environments.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 10‑30% domestic international travel may be required, with trips ranging from one day to several weeks.

Work Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week, flexible schedule as needed.

Work Authorization:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
