The Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician fabricates orthoses and prostheses to provide maximum fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship. The Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician is expected to keep abreast of all new fabricating techniques and must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment.

Your Impact

  • Fabricates and repairs standard Orthotic and Prosthetic appliances, examines structural integrity and cosmesis according to Company quality and quantity standards.
  • Fabricates and repairs complex devices โ€“ seeking input from supervisor and others as needed.
  • Organization of Work orders and scheduling of jobs
  • Real time inventory management
  • Makes accurate decisions concerning material selection for each project, using input from practitioners concerning patientโ€™s size, diagnosis and activity level.
  • Demonstrates plaster-working abilities through: cast sealing and preparation, plaster mixing and pouring to produce a solid model with minimal aeration or imperfections.
  • Demonstrates attention to quality by producing clean project with even contours, smooth edges and secure parts. Identifies deficiencies and seeks input concerning re-fabrication if necessary. Makes sure that all screws are lock-tight, and that the Orthosis or Prosthesis is structurally safe and in good working order.
  • Plans and prioritizes the work week to accomplish routine responsibilities within the prescribed timelines.
  • Maintains and supplies inventory of both fabricated parts and on stock Orthotic/ Prosthetic devices and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Normally receives little instructions on daily work, receives general instructions on newly introduced assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 years of experience
