Seasonal Groundsworker, 8.0 hrs/day (1.0 FTE), Full Time, Temporary 
**Pre-placement drug screening is required**
Seasonal Assignment for 2025-26 & 2026-27 school year.  This assignment starts on 5/18/2026 and ends on 9/30/2026.

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Responsible for using a variety of tools, equipment, and treatments to maintain grounds including planting, cultivating, spraying, pruning, and cutting plants, trees, shrubs, grass, and flowers.  Responsible for determining the care and treatment necessary to maintain grounds in good condition. 



COMPENSATION:
Initial wage placement according to NCSD/OSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Retirement Plan Contributions
North Clackamas School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. The district contributes the employer portion; there is also a mandatory employee portion. Upon eligibility, which is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position, the employee is required to contribute 6% as their employee portion, via payroll deduction.  Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:









  1. Incumbents must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
  2. High School Student
  3. Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction; sound judgment and decision making capabilities are essential.
  4. Ability to operate power equipment.
  5. Knowledge of lawn, tree and shrub care.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience as a grounds worker.
  • Training and/or experience in care and maintenance of plants, trees, flowers, and shrubs.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (depending on specific assignment): 
1. Operates small power mowers and other hand held power equipment.
2. Assists in pruning and trimming hedges, shrubs, and trees under direction of Grounds 2 staff.
3. Assists in performing turf renovation, such as thatching, aerating, and over seeding.
4. Plants and transplants trees and ornamentals under direction of Grounds 2 staff.
5. Assists in installing a variety of permanent and temporary fencing materials, playground equipment, and park accessories.
6. Prepares areas for athletic events, including lining, striping, dragging, etc.
7. Keeps accurate records of labor, material, and equipment costs on each job assigned.
8. Skillfully and safely operates all the hand and power tools necessary to complete assigned tasks.
9. Works closely and communicates well with school staff and other departments.
