Position Summary:
As an Activities Support Staff member, your role revolves around collaborating as part of a team to facilitate events of diverse sizes and purposes within the activities department. These events encompass a wide range, from concerts and dances to happy hours, trivia nights, luncheons, vendor shows, and more.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
  • Planning and Coordinating Events: Activities assistants plan and facilitate social and recreational events, ensuring they are engaging and enjoyable for participants.
  • Facilitating Activities: Assist in organizing various events and activities, such as dances, casino nights, trivia, concerts, karaoke, golf cart parades, cornhole tournaments, line dancing classes, and other active events.
  • Guest Services: Welcome residents, answer phones, provide information, sell event tickets, assist in activity sign-up, answer questions, research answers, and work with team members to keep front office operations working.
  • Front Desk/Office Support: Help residents sign up for events, sell tickets, answer phones, organize the office, make copies, and assist in office operations.
  • Promotional Support: Help create and post event flyers and community calendars.
  • Logistical Support: Work under the direction of an event manager to ensure all aspects of the event run smoothly, including managing registrations, ticketing, and cashiering.
  • Managing logistics: Help with scheduling, advertising, managing inventory, and ensuring that events run smoothly and within budget.
  • Setup and Breakdown: Occasionally assist in preparing event venues by setting up chairs, tables, stages, and audio-visual equipment. After the event, assist in packing up and cleaning the venue.
  • Gathering Feedback: Observe participants and gather feedback to improve future events and tailor activities to meet the needs of all participants.
  • Collaborating with Staff: Work closely with other staff members and volunteers to ensure that all activities are safe, inclusive, and enjoyable.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks, such as lifting equipment and setting up venues.
  • Problem-Solving: Quick thinking and adaptability to handle unexpected situations or emergencies during events.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring that all setups meet the required standards and that the event runs according to plan.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to achieve common goals.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office software and Canva preferred
  • Efe Food Handler Certificate and Title 4 Alcohol Certification (or within 20 days of hire

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Constantly stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp, bend and kneel; Frequently use arms and hands
  • Manual dexterity for handling paperwork and using office equipment
  • Clear vision and hearing for reviewing documents and communicating effectively
  • Capability to lift up and carry up to 30 pounds
