Lawyers on Demand, a Consilio company is actively recruiting for a temporary Paralegal for a hybrid position for a law firm client in Washington, DC.


This position could turn into a temporary to hire opportunity for the right candidate.


Position Summary

The Paralegal role provides day-to-day litigation and practice support for attorneys handling matters involving food and agriculture policy, customs and trade policy, and related disputes. Success in this position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, keep materials and schedules well organized, and maintain a high level of accuracy under deadline. The role is primarily remote, with optional access to office space in Downtown Washington, D.C. Certain assignments will require attendance at in-person meetings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform targeted legal and factual research using Lexis and comparable electronic research platforms, summarizing findings clearly and efficiently.
  • Prepare documents for filing by ensuring correct formatting, citation integrity, and compliance with applicable court rules; submit filings through PACER and related e-filing systems.
  • Build and maintain well-structured litigation files, including pleadings sets, binders, discovery tracking tools, and indexes to support efficient retrieval and review.
  • Monitor docket activity and case progress, reviewing filings to identify upcoming obligations and to help maintain accurate deadlines and status updates.
  • Provide editorial support as needed, including proofreading and quality control on drafts, exhibits, and correspondence.
  • Manage coordination with external service providers and third parties (e.g., court reporters, vendors, agencies, law clerks), ensuring logistics and deliverables stay on track.
  • Assist trial and hearing preparation by organizing records, analyzing and categorizing data, and compiling materials for depositions, hearings, and other proceedings.
  • Maintain and update court and internal calendars to reflect deadlines, hearings, and key milestones.
  • Take on additional support tasks as needed to meet practice and client demands.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay highly organized while tracking regulatory and legislative developments and managing competing deadlines.
  • Prior experience or relevant education involving electronic filing in federal and/or state courts.
  • Strong research and writing capabilities, with the ability to communicate findings in a concise, usable format.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and sound judgment in prioritizing workload to meet time-sensitive requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
  • Effective case and project management skills, including document control, deadline tracking, and process follow-through.
