JOB LOCATION: Princeton, NC
POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 1
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Perform general construction tasks involving physical labor at construction projects and plants. May operate hand and power tools of all types: Air hammers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces for support, erect scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Asphalt Plant - Yardman
  1. Operate jackhammers, drills and other power tools as required.
  2. Position, join, align, and seal structural components.
  3. Shovel materials.
  4. Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  5. Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, or paint through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
  6. Tend machines that pump asphalt & etc.
  7. Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials such as asphalt.
  8. Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  9. Apply caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns.
  10. Clean and prepare sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  11. Control traffic passing near, in, and around work area.
  12. Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, ramps, and other temporary structures.
  13. Load, unload building materials, machinery, and tools.
  14. Mix ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces.
  15. Learn and follow safety regulations.
  16. Work long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers including nights, weekends, and work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year.1
  17. Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager.
  18. Must have regular and predictable attendance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.

Work Experience:
  • Ability to communicate problems based on the many variables of the project.
  • Prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once.

Other:
  • Dependable transportation to the plant location is required.
  • Must be willing to work nights.
  • Must have the willingness and be available to work long hours or weekends if required.
  • Must be dependable with a good work ethic.
  • Must not be afraid of heights.
  • Must be willing to follow directions and learn.
  • Room for advancement with training.

Heavy Physical Demands:
Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds). If a position specific Physical Demands sheet is attached, it will describe in more detail the physical demands that are required.
Physical Activity:
Position requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment is normally required of the position. Position requires ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.
