Hours per Week: Not to exceed 19 hours a week

Outside working hours if other than M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: M-F 8AM -5PM nights and weekends may be required
Job Summary and Description
Position responsible for teaching Continuing Education classes. Continuing Education Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity contingent upon the needs of the department. Classes are offered during daytime, evenings, and weekends as well as some College holidays. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
  • Five years of experience as a Law Enforcement Officer.
  • Three years of experience teaching Law Enforcement classes.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or a related field or higher
  • Teaching Basic Peace Officer courses at a Law Enforcement Academy
  • Ten years of paid experience as a Texas Peace Officer
  • firearms Instructor
  • Defensive Tactics Instructor
  • SFST Instructor
  • CIT Instructor
  • CPR Instructor
  • TIM's Instructor
  • ALERRT Instructor
  • Taser Instructor OC Instructor
  • Subject Matter Expert on 3 or more topics

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Honorable f-5 Discharge(s) (if applicable).
  • TCOLE Instructor and Proficiency.

Motor Vehicle Report is required in addition to background check and drug screen
