Temporary School Nurse Position (Maternity Leave Coverage)
Dates: August 5, 2026 - October 9, 2026
Position Overview
Shelbyville Central Schools is seeking a qualified School Nurse to provide temporary coverage during a maternity leave assignment. The nurse will support student health needs, provide direct care for illness and injuries, and promote a safe and healthy school environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first aid and emergency care for students and staff
  • Administer prescribed medications and document care given
  • Maintain student health records and required immunization documentation
  • Monitor and respond to student health concerns and referrals
  • Develop and update individualized student health care plans
  • Ensure compliance with state laws and district health policies
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized health clinic environment
  • Serve as a liaison between families, school staff, and community health providers
  • Assist with health screenings and health-related training for staff
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation of clinic activities
  • Monitor emergency medical equipment (AEDs, first aid kits, etc.)

Qualifications
