Job description

Company Overview:

Allen Control Systems (ACS) is a cutting-edge defense startup founded by two former Navy electrical engineers with a proven track record in robotics and software. We are developing an autonomous gun turret using advanced computer vision and control systems to precisely detect, track, and neutralize enemy drones.

With an engineering-first culture, ACS values technical excellence and innovation. Backed by our founders’ successful exits from two previous ventures acquired for a combined $180M in 2022, we are committed to ensuring that the groundbreaking technologies we develop have a real-world impact.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated mid-level full stack developer to join the Enterprise Applications team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain robust internal and client-facing enterprise solutions that power critical business operations across the organization. You will work across the full technology stack, from database architecture and backend servicers to responsive front-end interfaces, to deliver scalable, reliable software that meets the demands of a fast-paced enterprise environment.
What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade applications across the full stack.

  • Optimize and enhance existing software for efficiency, scalability, and reliability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

  • Implement best practices in software engineering, including code reviews, unit testing, and documentation.

  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and performance issues.

  • Build, maintain, and integrate enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, and third-party platforms via APIs and middleware.

  • Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established standards and best practices.

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

  • Contribute to architectural discussions and help drive continuous improvement of development processes.

  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and security across all layers of the stack.

What You'll Need:

  • 3-6 years of professional experience in full stack software development.

  • Proficiency in at least on modern front-end framework (ex: React, Angular, or Vue.js)

  • Strong back-end development skills in one or more server-side languages (ex: C#, Java, Python, or Node.js).

  • Experience with relational databases (ex: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and writing complex queries.

  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design principals and integration patterns.

  • Familiarity with software development methodologies and design patterns.

  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and agile development practices.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Professional experience in software development preferred.

You'll Stand Out:

  • Experience developing enterprise applications such as ERP systems, workflow automation, or internal portals.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native application development.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Understanding of enterprise security practices including authentication, authorization, and data encryption.

  • Experience with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)

What We Offer:
