About the Position
The Temporary Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and supporting financial decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis. This position includes supervision of staff, contributing to general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a strong leader, detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of balancing multiple accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable process and cash application process. Including following up with customers to ensure timely payment of Invoices.
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory valuation of scrap metals and finished goods.
  • Track and report on operational costs, including transportation, processing, and environmental compliance.
  • Lead Monthly Reporting Package consolidation and distribution to Leadership team.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations, including environmental reporting requirements.
    Coordinate with external auditors and support the annual audit process.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Collaborate with accounting team, sales and the operations team to ensure accurate cost accounting and inventory tracking.
  • Support ERP system improvements and automation of accounting processes.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, recycling, or commodities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ROM) and Microsoft Excel including advanced formulas, dynamic arrays, Pivot Tables, etc.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in an industrial office environment with exposure to noise and dust.
  • Requires sitting, typing, and computer work for extended periods.
