Job description

The Daughters of Charity of Canossa are seeking a dependable, caring, and experienced Temporary Cook to join our Convent community for a 90-day assignment, with the possibility of extending the position based on the needs of the Convent.

This is more than a cooking position—it's an opportunity to serve in a peaceful, faith-centered environment where your work directly supports the daily lives of nine Catholic Sisters. If you enjoy preparing delicious, home-cooked meals, take pride in maintaining a clean kitchen, and appreciate meaningful work in a welcoming community, we would love to meet you.

The position is based in our fully equipped commercial kitchen and follows a consistent weekend schedule preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the Sisters.

Compensation:

$20 Hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner each Saturday and Sunday for nine Sisters living in the Convent.

  • Plan, prep, and cook nutritious, home-style meals using ingredients provided by the Convent.

  • Ensure meals are prepared on time and presented in a clean, professional manner.

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the commercial kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning equipment, and sanitizing work surfaces after each meal.

  • Monitor kitchen supplies and communicate any inventory or food needs to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices at all times.

  • Foster a respectful, professional, and welcoming atmosphere while working within the Convent community.

Qualifications:
  • Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, commercial kitchen, institutional setting, or large-family environment preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to prepare a variety of nutritious, home-style meals while serving multiple people.

  • Knowledge of proper food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.

  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage meal preparation efficiently.

  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a consistent weekend schedule.

  • Strong attention to cleanliness and willingness to maintain a sanitary commercial kitchen before, during, and after meal preparation.

  • Professional, respectful, and compassionate demeanor with an appreciation for working in a faith-based community.

About Company

The Daughters of Charity of Canossa (Canossian Sisters) are an international Catholic religious community founded in 1808 by Saint Magdalene of Canossa in Verona, Italy. For more than two centuries, the Sisters have dedicated their lives to serving others through education, healthcare, spiritual ministry, and compassionate outreach to those most in need.

Inspired by Saint Magdalene's vision, we strive to make Christ's love visible through simple acts of kindness and care while fostering a welcoming environment where every person is treated with dignity and respect.

Joining our Convent team means becoming part of a peaceful, faith-centered community where your work truly matters. Every member of our staff plays an important role in supporting the daily lives and well-being of the Sisters. If you are seeking meaningful work in a respectful environment where compassion, integrity, and excellence are valued, we invite you to become part of the family.
