Job Title: CNC Programmer - Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm

Job Description

This first-shift CNC Programmer role focuses on independently programming and setting up multiple Haas vertical mills using Fanuc controls in a smaller, clean, and organized job shop environment. You will work primarily on shorter production runs, handling multiple setups each week, and producing mostly aluminum parts with some steel components while operating with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Program Haas vertical mills using freehand programming on Fanuc controls for a variety of parts and projects.
  • Set up and operate three different Haas vertical mills, ensuring accurate tooling, offsets, and workholding for each job.
  • Manage multiple setups per day, typically up to three, and approximately six to eight setups per week in a job shop environment.
  • Produce shorter runs of parts, usually ranging from 10 to 100 pieces, while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Work primarily with aluminum materials and occasionally with steel, selecting appropriate speeds, feeds, and tooling.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong self-direction and problem-solving skills.
  • Inspect parts during and after machining to verify dimensions and tolerances, making adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop safety practices and equipment guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members as needed to coordinate workflow and meet production timelines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve setup efficiency and machining processes in a job shop setting.

Essential Skills

  • 1–2 years of CNC programming experience, including hands-on programming at the machine.
  • CNC milling setup experience, including tooling selection, fixture setup, and offset adjustments.
  • Proficiency with Fanuc controls and freehand programming on vertical milling machines.
  • Experience operating Haas vertical mills or similar CNC milling equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong self-direction.
  • Solid understanding of machining principles for aluminum and steel materials.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards on short-run production work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a job shop environment with frequent changeovers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a job shop environment with frequent, varied setups.
  • Comfort working on shorter production runs, typically 10–100 parts per job.
  • Ability to manage multiple setups per day while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members when needed.
