Lick-Wilmerding High School is a private school with public purpose, serving 560 students in grades 9-12 in San Francisco. POSITION DESCRIPTION

Lick-Wilmerding High School currently seeks a dedicated educator to join our math department as full-time Math teacher for the second semester of the 2026-27 school year. We are looking for candidates able to teach 4 sections of Math and serve as an advisor to a group of approximately 12 students. The math department is a collaborative, supportive, student-centered team that believes all students can be successful mathematics learners. We work intentionally to develop and align our curriculum with the needs of our students and value the diverse perspectives our colleagues bring to this work.

Candidates will demonstrate the capacity to teach four sections of Math, including advanced levels. This teacher also should expect to be available to students for individual help outside of class.Teachers also are responsible for various duties including, chaperoning student events, working with admissions, and participating in the life of the school.

As an institution committed to educating the whole child, we both invite and expect teaching faculty to participate fully in the academic and co-curricular life of the school. This includes, but is not limited to, furthering the mission of the school through participating in our Advisory, Public Purpose, and EIB programs; as well as routine attendance in all curricular team meetings, department meetings, faculty meetings, and office hours to support students when needed.

JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degrees welcome

    • A minimum of three years teaching experience, preferably at the high school level
    • A commitment to equity and culturally responsive, anti-racist instruction in the math classroom, which invites all students to learn and to demonstrate what they have learned.
    • Experience with student-centered math pedagogy that values understanding and reasoning over rules and algorithms.
    • Powerful understanding of mathematics through calculus and statistics.
    • Ability and desire to teach at all levels of the high school curriculum.
    • Experience with student-centered teaching and learning, including differentiated instruction for students across various academic and social backgrounds.
    • Engage in continual professional development to grow mathematical knowledge for teaching, pedagogical content knowledge, and knowledge of students as learners of mathematics.
    • A commitment to work collaboratively on a grade level team, as well as across disciplines.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
