Samaritan's Purse is seeking an Emergency Medical Response Lead to provide day-to-day leadership, coordination, and readiness oversight for our International Health Unit (IHU) in North Wilkesboro, NC. In this role, you will ensure sustained emergency response capability and staff development in support of global health and disaster response programming.
A day in the life of a Emergency Medical Response Lead:

In the role of Emergency Medical Response Lead, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to team members, oversee day-to-day activities, and ensure continuity of leadership and operational oversight.
  • Guide staff development, mentorship, and training within the team and coordinate team workload and priorities to ensure emergency response readiness and effective program implementation.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of response systems, staffing readiness, and deployment preparedness. Ensure that emergency medical response assets, equipment, and operational systems remain maintained and prepared in coordination with relevant departments.
  • Coordinate and facilitate emergency medical response deployments. Serve as a central coordination point for staff during emergency responses and deployments and provide leadership within Incident Management Team (IMT) or Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) structures as assigned.
  • Lead capacity development initiatives that strengthen emergency medical response readiness. Develop and deliver training initiatives and preparedness exercises and contributes to strengthening organizational response capability globally through development of tools, resources, and guidance.
  • Provide technical support to country offices and field programs requiring emergency response assistance. Conduct field deployments, assessments, or temporary assignments as required and contribute to development and implementation of initiatives that strengthen emergency response capability.
  • Coordinate closely with Medical Operations, logistics, and other International Health Unit teams to ensure alignment and effective collaboration in emergency response activities. Facilitate communication between team members and internal stakeholders involved in response activities.
  • Engage with partners, technical working groups, and humanitarian stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and response capability.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience :
  • Registered Nurse, physician, paramedic, or similar clinical or public health degree required, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in humanitarian health programming, emergency medical response, disaster response operations, or related environments, including experience supporting or leading field deployments, operational readiness, or response coordination; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience working within incident management, disaster response coordination structures, or international humanitarian response environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience contributing to training initiatives, preparedness exercises, and/or capacity development activities.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Travel Expectations: Approximately 75 days/annually; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary.
