Job Summary

The Technician, Field must be able to perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs, as well as planned maintenance on lift trucks. This role involves managing the maintenance shop, ensuring proper inventory levels, and maintaining a safe, organized environment in compliance with OSHA standards. The Forklift Technician must be detail-oriented, able to assess repair options, complete service records accurately, and handle various tasks as assigned.

The Technician, Field is responsible for performing routine maintenance on industrial equipment, including but not limited to electric forklifts, racking, dock & doors, scissor lifts, tuggers, floor scrubbers and golf carts.


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Travel to various customer facilities to support time off, leaves of absence, training, and other business needs.
  • Point of contact for customers.
  • Facilitate PM schedules.
  • Facilitate work/repair request.
  • Provide shift coverage for PTO.
  • Willing to be on call.
  • Coordinate and drive warranty requests.
  • Facilitate outside vendor work (PO process and billing).
  • Facilitate outside of scope work.
  • Parts ordering and inventory management (5S inventory skills).
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures, including root cause analysis, warranty coverage research and rework.
  • Analysis of repetitive repairs using historical equipment data available through CMMS platform.
  • Complete all repairs of equipment in a timely manner and by the manufacturer’s repair guidelines.
  • Judgment and decision making - consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate course of action for the customer.
  • Equipment inspection - Perform audits on equipment per the PM planning tools schedule within the CMMS platform.
  • Communications - provide information to supervisors and co-workers by phone, in writing, e-mail, or in person.
  • Timely and accurate completion of all work orders and service records by the established standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely entry of work hours in time keeping platform.

  • Work areas will be maintained to ensure safety.
  • Work areas will be kept clean and organized daily.
  • Timely completion of safety training modules.

Requirements:

Job Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • High School or GED Diploma required.
  • Strong electrical / LP troubleshooting skills.
  • Industrial battery experience.
  • Dock & door experience.
  • Arc, Mig, and Tig welding experience preferred.
  • Able to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams.
  • Ability to organize his/her own work and work independently, with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across remote offices.
  • Manufacturer training available on specific equipment for technician hired.
  • Specialty tools will be provided but must have own hand tools and willing to purchase what is needed to be successful in the role.
  • Successful candidates will be organized, build solid relationships, and work well under pressure in all situations.

  • Travel up to 90% is required
