Position: GIS QA/QC Analyst (Utility Mapping)
CRITICAL REQUIREMENT: This is NOT an IT, Software, or Web Application testing role. We are only considering candidates with a dedicated background in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or Utility Mapping. Applications without hands-on experience using mapping software like ESRI ArcMap will be automatically filtered out.
Core Requirements:
  • 2+ Years of ESRI ArcMap Experience: Must know how to create MXD files, perform spatial queries, and execute spatial analysis.
  • Utility Infrastructure Knowledge: Experience reading and validating gas, electric, or water utility maps (Gas infrastructure/pipeline data is highly preferred).
  • Location: Hybrid (4 days a week onsite in the Bronx, NY).

Are you ready to make a significant impact on the integrity and reliability of critical infrastructure systems? Aquent is partnering with a leading organization dedicated to maintaining the highest standards for vital public services, and we're seeking a skilled professional to join their dedicated geospatial data team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and quality of essential mapping data, directly contributing to the safety and efficiency of operations that serve communities every day. Your expertise will drive the validation and enhancement of critical data, empowering better decision-making and operational excellence.
**About the Role:**
We are looking for a meticulous and driven individual to support data quality assurance and testing for our client's infrastructure mapping initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your geospatial expertise to validate and enhance the integrity of migrated mapping data within advanced geospatial platforms. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and connectivity of vital infrastructure components, ensuring the highest standards of data quality.
**What You'll Do:**
* Perform spatial and attribute data validation for legacy infrastructure mapping data migrated to new geospatial systems.
* Conduct spatial queries and in-depth analysis to ensure the connectivity and accuracy of infrastructure components.
* Review and correct land base symmetry and infrastructure connectivity issues.
* Update and standardize mapping symbology to maintain consistency and clarity.
* Execute system testing to verify the functionality of new geospatial tools and features.
* Maintain organized tracking of data review progress, utilizing various tools to ensure transparency and efficiency.
* Prioritize tasks effectively and manage timelines to consistently meet project milestones.
* Support additional geospatial initiatives as required, contributing to broader team objectives.
**Must-Have Qualifications:**
* Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with leading geospatial mapping software (e.g., ArcMap).
* Proficiency in map document creation, spatial queries, and spatial analysis.
* Strong understanding of GIS concepts and leading geospatial platform tools.
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently to achieve objectives.
* Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage complex data.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data tracking.
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
**Nice-to-Have Qualifications:**
* Experience with specialized utility mapping platforms.
* Experience supporting GIS-related software implementation projects, including configuration, testing, and deployment of geospatial tools or platforms.
* Familiarity with IT project management principles, particularly in environments involving data quality assurance and system integration.
* Exposure to project tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, MS Project) and collaborative platforms used in technical project environments.
* Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including GIS analysts, developers, and project managers.
* Understanding of change management and user support strategies during technology rollouts or upgrades.
* Familiarity with utility mapping systems and critical infrastructure.
* Ability to interpret various types of infrastructure maps and technical documents.
