Job description

Job Summary:
Auburn University is seeking a motivated and skilled Student Software Developer for its Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Lab. This role is ideal for undergraduate students who will develop and maintain web-based applications to support research activities, streamline processes, and improve efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain applications for data management, visualization, and research collaboration.
• Work closely with researchers to understand their software requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Participate in the design, testing, and deployment of new software features.
• Assist in the integration of computational tools and databases.
• Document and maintain software functionality.
• Ensure the robustness and reliability of web applications.
• Perform data collection and data analysis to investigate the performance of large-scale RFID deployments.
• Responsible for creating reports for data presentation and customer communication.
• Responsible for evaluating the performance of RFID systems in retail stores and standard lab test environments.
• Responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting RF test equipment.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Enrolled student at Auburn University
• Strong programming skills with experience in application development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#).
• Experience working with web applications, and or frameworks (NextJS, Remix, Vite/React) - Experience with Kubernetes
• Experience working with databases (SQL, NoSQL)
• Currently enrolled as an Auburn University undergraduate student.
• Majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have 20 hour per week availability for summer 2026 and 15 - 20 hour per week availability for fall 2026
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage with non-technical team members.
Preferred:
• Knowledge of data visualization tools and libraries is a plus.
• Technically capable with the ability to quickly become familiar with hardware, software, processes and new technologies is a plus.
• Basic Knowledge of RF systems and computer networks is a plus.
