Job description

Summary

The HR Generalist performs HR functions and support duties including routine and non-recurring based on instructions, laws, policies and/or procedures while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and validity in the HR processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partners with the Site leader and management team to ensure HR priorities align with the company's goals and objectives in preboarding, onboarding and off boarding, compliance, benefits administration, leaves of absence management, workers compensation and employees' changes.
  • Works closely with the HR Director to support the strategic direction on all aspects of HR including onboarding and terminations, compliance issues, benefit administration changes, leave of absence compliance, performance and compensation management, employee relations and training and development.
  • Participate and support the Plant's Continuous Improvement initiatives. Offer ideas, align policies, support activities such as Ops meetings, Gemba Walks, Kaizen Events which drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for recruitment, selection, and retention of plant employees. Partners with Plant Leadership in maintaining staffing levels to budget.
  • Serves as contact with temporary labor agencies to schedule workers to meet daily production staffing requirements and to process pay records. Reviews and approves invoices and addresses temporary worker issues as required.
  • Guides and collaborates with management and employees to improve and develop the culture and organizational structure.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of state employment laws and regulations.
  • Ensures legal compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues.
  • Maintains HRIS system records and department tracking files, ensuring timely and accurate records.
  • Assists in drafting and updating the company's policies, procedures, and standards under a supervisor's oversight.
  • Assists in structuring and organizing training plans and programs for all departments
  • Supports management in the annual performance management program. Tracks dues date for all reviews including 30/60/80 initial reviews.
  • Coordinates and executes safety training according to required schedule including timely paperwork filing.
  • Responsible for the investigation and administration of worker compensation claims, record keeping, and documentation. Works with Corporate EH&S on worker's compensation case management.
  • Administers uniform program.
  • Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Plans and organizes company events, e.g. luncheons, picnics, recognition, etc.
  • Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of Human Resources experience or at least five (5) years of experience in the human resources field. All experience preferably in a manufacturing plant environment.

Individual must be Bilingual - English/Spanish

Strong Microsoft Office skills are required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge and experience working with an HRIS system (Kronos/UKG preferred)

Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and ethical behavior.

High emotional intelligence and ability to handle sensitive employee situations with professionalism and care.

Able to adjust to a fast paced working environment.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and influence effectively at all levels of the organization.

Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
