Salary: $30.81/hr

Benefits: In accordance with Collective Agreement

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Position Status: 1 temporary, full-time. This is an existing vacancy.

** This position is being filled on a temporary basis, and if and when this opportunity becomes permanent, the successful applicant will transition from temporary full-time to permanent full time, and benefits will be backdated to the start of the temporary assignment. **


Self-motivated and able to work independently, you will set the level of service for the general public by observing the surrounding conditions such as citizens, equipment, property, etc. in order to ensure that solid waste & recycling is collected in a safe manner. You must ensure safe conditions for workers and general public at all times. The Transfer Facility Operator performs a variety of routine and complex semi-skilled tasks at the Transfer Site and Landfill including but not limited to: Hauling waste with truck & trailer to landfill; operates heavy equipment at the Transfer Site and Landfill such as Loader, Dozer, Rock truck, and other specialized equipment; conducts on-site inspections of in-coming waste; provides relief duties for Transfer Site Cashiers, Garbage Truck Driver and other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess and maintain a clean valid "AZ" Ontario Driver's License. Must have a clean driving record; please provide proof of this with a Driver's Abstract attached to your application.
  • Two (2) years of experience in equipment operation in a work environment.
  • Must have minimum two (2) years' experience on a loader and bulldozer.
  • Experience with a Rock Truck or compactor would be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time, without any restrictions.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to lift carry up to 10 kg frequently and occasional up to 40 kg.
  • Experience handling cash would be considered an asset.
