Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP)

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) to join our team in an outpatient clinic setting. The primary responsibility of this role will be conducting treadmill stress EKG tests to evaluate cardiovascular health and fitness of low-risk industrial workers. The ideal candidate will have experience in treadmill EKG testing, a strong understanding of cardiovascular assessment, and the ability to effectively communicate with patients and clinical staff.

This position involves travel to Northern and Southern California for mobile deployments. The ability to travel is key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer treadmill stress tests to evaluate cardiovascular fitness, ensuring patient safety and comfort during the procedure.
  • Continuously monitor and record patient vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) throughout the stress test. Interpret EKG readings and identify any abnormal findings in real-time.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients prior to and during the test, explaining procedures, addressing any concerns, and ensuring they feel comfortable and informed.
  • Accurately document all test results, patient information, and observations in the clinic's electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Work closely with the on-site clinician, the clinical staff, and the Medical Director to ensure timely and accurate test results. Provide feedback and assist in interpreting test data for patient care plans.
  • Ensure that the treadmill, EKG machines, and other necessary medical equipment are set up and calibrated properly before each test.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and patient care during testing procedures. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or an equivalent certification.

Experience:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience conducting treadmill stress EKG tests in a clinical or outpatient setting is preferred.
  • Experience in cardiovascular disease, exercise testing, and patient assessment.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular physiology and exercise testing protocols.
  • Proficient in EKG interpretation and familiarity with clinical monitoring equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in a simple, patient-friendly manner.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs, and rolling of heavier loads).
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during testing procedures.
